Senova Systems came to Continuum's Advanced Systems team and asked us to assist them with commercializing a new, solid state pH measurement technology in a highly portable, durable, and low maintenance form factor.
Current pH meters present several problematic characteristics for the modern-day lab.
The pHit Scanner by Senova Systems uses a new smart sensor that provides the following advantages over the standard pH meter:
With the elimination of a calibration protocol, pHit only needs two modes of operation. The primary mode is the measurement mode and the secondary mode is a sensor check mode. This makes a previously complicated lab instrument amazingly simple to use.
pHit seamlessly interfaces with common laboratory accessories (pictured with a typical boom stand).
Water submersible up to one meter, pHit has the flexibility to be both a tabletop instrument and a field-use device.
The following is a collection of images outlining the general design process including initial rough mock-ups, photoshop sketches that set the tone for the design, and developing the concepts in CAD through to a final functioning alpha model. Click on an image to enlarge.
